EKA pre-academy basic course

During the autumn semester, I explored and encouraged experimentation with the diverse means of expression inherent in visual culture. Meetings and workshops were held to introduce what is happening in contemporary visual culture. The course offered opportunities to broaden and enrich oneself in a variety of ways, and to prepare oneself for the choice of specialisation and for studying at a university of the arts.

By the end of the course I:

- met with lecturers, students and graduates.

- experimented with a variety of visual means of expression in the fields of architecture, design and art.

- gained insights into the themes and challenges of contemporary visual culture.

Research work

"Subtleties of the profession of an exhibition curator"

_Eleonor Tingas (1)_edited.jpg

This work was devoted to the study of the work of the exhibition curator, familiarising with the difficulties and nuances of this profession, as well as the use of knowledge gained in the school walls. In order to obtain the most reliable information about this profession, a questionnaire was made among the exhibition's curators of Estonia. In addition, the site was created for exposing and archiving works in the online environment.

As a result of the work done, a total of 12 exhibitions were issued - 8 individual and 4 from optional lessons. The authors studied many theoretical materials, which described the stages of the work of the curator. A collection and analysis of the information necessary for the beginning of the practical part of the work was carried out, and feedback from a professional in this field was obtained. After the end of work on school exhibitions, the authors began to work on the site intended to view work in open access. While working on the site, the authors familiarized themselves with the principle of independent creation and design of sites, starting with the layout planning site and creating photos, ending with link settings for a comfortable move on site sections.

During the study of the theoretical material and the execution of the practical part, the authors of the work found out that the profession of the curator, in reality, is not as simple as it may seem at first glance. Often, a person does not even think that long-term preparations are hidden behind the well-decorated exhibition: the collection and processing of information about the author and work, the development of the concept of the exhibition, the decoration of artworks.

In the end, the authors managed to explore the profession of the exhibition curator and try themselves in it. This practical work benefits both the authors of the work and the Tallinn Linnamäe Russian Lyceum since the practical application of curatorial skills helped to acquaint students lyceum with creativity, as well as digitalize and archive works of students of the lyceum.

The purpose of our creative work was to learn how to make simple and beautiful accessories with your own hands, as well as teach this others. The form of our work is a master class. We planned 3 masterclasses for our classmates.

As a result, 3 master classes were held, on which our classmates made 5 accessories with their own hands. We also prepared a presentation in which we presented a description of all our events with photos. We are very pleased with the result that achieved, thanks to the diligent work and help of our supervisor.

We have gained valuable experience working in team, as well as the experience of managing the learning process. We also learned how to work with new materials, evaluate our abilities and realized that beautiful decorations can be made with materials at hand. It is also important that we learned from a huge number of master classes offered on the Internet choose exactly those ideas that were available to us in terms of complexity and selection of material.
